Carly Smith - Boggy Bottom Bayou
As a native Floridian and nurse by profession, I have enjoyed many hobbies such as quilting, cross stitching, and other needlework crafts.
My favorite craft was designing dolls made out of natural fabrics such as muslin and wool, my favorite of which being whimsical folk art Frogs, Santas and everything Halloween!
While raising my husband and three boys as a stay at home mom, my favorite past time soon became a career. One day, I happened upon a teddy bear workshop given by renowned Teddy Bear Artist Ann Inman. There I made my first bear. I spent several years as a successful Teddy Bear Artist selling my bears to my fans across the globe!
I experimented with different mediums, especially paper clay. In the Fall of 2012, my soft bodied, clay-headed dolls were featured in Art Doll Quarterly! Then I was juried in to a Halloween only Art Show and it was a total love affair with Halloween…so much fun!
My work has been published in: Art Doll Quarterly (Fall 2013, 2014), Somerset Studios (Fall 2013, and Holidays and Celebrations (Fall 2013).
